Action Research
Action research provides an effective
method when you face a problem. It gives you systematic engagement, instinctual
motivation and intentional study base on what you learned from your inquiry. Action
research is also reducing your stress when you face a problem because you know
what steps you need to follow. Another bright side of action research is
solution comes from inside the school not from who are considered alien to the
everyday happenings in schools. This type of research is done at the campus or
district level and the researchers are who faces problems. Traditional researches
are generally done by the university level and then trying to implement to
schools. Action research is a great tool for school leaders to achieve success.
Basically, you identify the problem with your stakeholders and then gathering necessary
data to clarify the problem. When the problem clarified you decide your actions
that need to be taken base on inquiry. Then you analyze and share results with
your stakeholders.
Sharing action research influences teachers’ thinking
skills, sense of efficacy, willingness to communicate with colleagues, and attitudes
toward professional development and the process of change (Sagor, 2000). There
are some great tools for educational leaders to use share their researches and thoughts.
One of them is blogger; I think all leaders should use blogger because it is provides
you so many benefits. First of all, it is easy to create and update, you can publish
your researches and thoughts instantly and receive feedback from anyone in the
world. Also you may use it for collecting data for your researches. It is a
useful tool for sharing. As a conclusion; action research is an ideal way to
address problems in a systematic way.
